The World Health Organisation (WHO) has placed Zambia and two other regional countries on high alert following the detection of a wild poliovirus case in Malawi. The WHO has stated that health authorities in Mozambique, Tanzania, and Zambia are on high alert and that plans are underway to administer additional vaccinations for children under the age of five years in Malawi and neighbouring countries. The organisation has noted that four founds of polio vaccination campaigns are being planned. Neighbouring countries have also been alerted and are planning to conduct immunisation campaigns.
